Two west coast saxophonists team up to pay tribute to one of the greatest saxophonists of all, John Coltrane. No small feat. But these two prodigious players pull it off, bringing to the stage some of the great music that made Coltrane a legend in the 1960's. This group has explored the different eras of Coltrane, from Blue Train, to Coltrane's Sound, to A Love Supreme.

Originally a native of Vancouver, Ben Henriques made his way to Montreal in 2001 to study Jazz at McGill University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance. Since then he has made a name for himself on the Montreal Jazz scene as a musician, bandleader, recording engineer and an educator. He has shared the stage with many Jazz greats including Joe Lovano, Phil Dwyer and Dave Liebman. His first record as a leader The Responsibility Club rose to number one on the airwaves in February 2009 and was also selected as number two jazz album of 2009 by Radio Jazz Plus. Ben completed his Masters degree in Jazz Performance at McGill's Schulich School of Music in 2012 and released his second album, Captain Awesome in 2013 at the Jazz Cellar in Vancouver.

Ben is currently teaching Saxophone and Flute at Vancouver Island University and working as a freelance musician and teacher in Vancouver, BC.

Award winning saxophonist Brent Mah is an engaging modern improviser known for his fiery, exciting and innovative playing. Described by the Calgary Jazz Association as “one of the hottest young players around,” Brent has toured extensively across Canada and appears on the CDs Convergence with Alex Goodman and Brent Mah, and Visions from the Farm from the Karl Schwonik Quartet.

Brent has studied with some of the world's most prolific performers and educators, such as Campbell Ryga, George Cables, David Baker, Hugh Fraser and Kirk MacDonald. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance from Vancouver's Capilano University.

Brent has performed across Canada as both a bandleader and sideman. He is currently a member of the Karl Schwonik Quartet, The Spencer Cheyne Group, The Runaway Five and leads a number of his own projects. He is also a busy freelance saxophonist active in both Alberta and British Columbia. He has performed alongside Steve Turre, Chucho Valdes, Curtis Fuller, Phil Dwyer, Jon Faddis, Jimmy Heath, David Braid, and Eric Marienthal.

Joining Ben and Brent will be Kodi Hutchinson on bass and Jon McCaslin on drums.
