Super T Aviation, Hangar 7, Medicine Hat Airport

Tickets available at the Esplanade and Tixx Central

Now in its fifth year, the dance party in the Super T Hangar at the Medicine Hat Airport has become one of the most popular events at JazzFest!

And one of our all-time favourite Cuban bands is back. Wil Campa grew up in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, amidst streets filled with joyful traditional Cuban music, organizing, directing and presenting concerts to family and neighborhood friends from an early age.

From 1988 to 2004 Wil performed with well known Orchestra's Cumbre and later Maraca participating in many elite Jazz Festivals including the Medicine Hat JazzFest, and traveling to over 37 counties around the world. His charisma and the ability to move an audience has brought him to share the stage with the ranks of Wynton Marsalis, Poncho Sanchez, Natalie Cole, Joe Lovano and Jimmy Bosch. He also shared the stage with Ibrahim Ferrer on his last concert at the Festival Marciac, France.

Recording several albums with Cumbre and Maraca he is best recognized nationally and internationally for his Grammy Nominated contribution to the CD Tremenda Rumba in 2002. In 2005 Wil formed the group he appears with at JazzFest, releasing two albums, Es Tiempo, and Todo es Posible.

Anyone who has attended a concert at the airport will know that this magical venue, paired with this incredible band are adding up to what will be one of the highlights of JazzFest 2019.
