Stephen Bishop

The project will be a duo with Stephen’s longtime friend and colleague Pierre-Yves Le Jeune, a wonderfully creative French bassist. They have called the project “Go West” as they are both from the West of their respective countries and although they’ve both been living away from where they were born for many years, where they come from continues to be a large part of who they are as people and as musicians. Their goal was for the music to reflect that. The project was recorded in one take in one of the current world’s many empty and underused auditoriums in the Eastern Suburbs of Paris, with thanks to Mathieu Gimenez, Florian Gosse, Philippe Renard and the Conservatoire Nina Simone (Paris Vallée de la Marne) for allowing them to use the space.

Stephen Bishop was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta.  After graduating from High School he moved to London, England to study classical trumpet at the Royal College of Music.  Since graduating in 2008, he has been living and working in Paris, France.
