The Zubot Bros. w/ special guest Tony Wilson

Jesse and Josh Zubot are primarily known for the violin playing.  They will be joined by their good friend Tony Wilson on guitar, which they both perform with regularly in multiple projects.  All three are fixtures on the Vancouver improvisational music scene and have performed and worked with many international jazz artists far and wide.

They will be performing original compositions.

Jesse Zubot

Jesse Zubot is a multiple JUNO award-winning musician and an in-demand record producer and film composer. His album productions include Tanya Tagaq’s Polaris Prize winning album ‘Animism’. He has recorded and performed with an extensive range of artists, including Steve Reich, Dan Mangan, Evan Parker, Eugene Chadbourne, Hawksley Workman, Andrew Downing, Kevin Turcotte, Steve Dawson, Marc Ribot, Stars, Fred Frith, Gord Grdina, Kelly Joe Phelps, François Houle and Tanya Tagaq. Jesse has been a regular on Down Beat Magazine’s Annual Critics Poll (Rising Star Violin) and has spent many years touring the world and working in the Vancouver improvisational music scene. Jesse has recently delved into the world of film scoring. He has been nominated for multiple Canadian Screen Awards and recently received a SOCAN Award for Achievement in Feature Film for the movie ‘Indian Horse.’

Josh Zubot

Before relocating to Vancouver in 2017, violinist/violist Joshua Zubot was a fixture in Montréal’s vibrant music community for over a decade, working with Patrick Watson, Sam Shalabi, Ratchet Orchestra, Jason Sharp, The Barr Brothers and the influential Musique Actuelle musicians Jean Derome, Malcolm Goldstein, Lori Freedman, Isaiah Ceccarelli and many others. In recent years his trio ‘In The Sea’ with Tristan Honsinger and Nic Caloia has toured Europe and the US extensively.  He’s now made himself at home in the genre-defying West Coast improvised music scene, where his omnivorous, idiosyncratic talent alights on jazz, classical, bluegrass, folk and the avant-garde.
